Monika Sullivan obtained a jury verdict award of more than $36,000 for unpaid legal fees and costs in her client’s favor. The attorney client was originally sued for legal malpractice. The attorney denied the allegations and filed a counter claim for unpaid legal fees. Michael Sullivan and Monika Sullivan successfully obtained summary disposition of the legal malpractice claims arguing that the allegations of malpractice were not the proximate cause of the plaintiff’s alleged damages and were otherwise matters of judgment protected by the attorney judgment rule. The matter then proceeded to a jury trial on the counter claim for unpaid legal fees. On January 20, 2010, after a day and a half trial, the jury returned a unanimous verdict in favor of the attorney client awarding her the full amount of relief that had been sought.
